YOGA for the Round Body

YOGA FOR THE ROUND BODY - Dharma Yoga is offering a 6 week session of Yoga for the Round Body beginning on Thursday, April 15th through May 20th 4:30-6:00 pm. It's often thought that you need to be super flexible or thin to start a yoga practice and that's just simly not the case.
I believe that yoga is for every body, regardless if you look like the models in "Yoga Journal" or Rosie O'Donnell. In fact, if you don't happen to be a tiny or medium sized yogini, that's all the more reason to get on the mat. Yoga can decrease stress, increase flexibility and improve posture. Yoga also helps us respect our bodies and get more comfortable in our own skin, something that everyone, regardless of body type can benefit from.
The instructor,Julia Hamilton,E-RYT200, and Stress Management Specialst with the Dean Ornish Program for Reversing Heart Disease has many years of experience working with overweight people who also have associated health problems such as heart disease, diabetes and other illnesses.
A typical class will include: Opening with a relaxation pose, then stretch the body as we begin to practice the yoga poses or "asanas", followed by Pranayama which is a set of breathing exercises that have been shown to have a positive impact on reducing weight, and ending with meditation and yoga nidra (yoga rest). All asanas will incorporate the use of props, bolsters, blocks, blankets & straps allowing a deeper, safer and soul-satisfying stretch.
The cost of the 6 week session is $45. To register, call Julia at 452-4098 or visit the Dharma Yoga Facebook page and RSVP.
